This thesis sought to know the gender relations in work settings of migrants from Ecuador and Venezuela from 1980 to 2010. Inquire into the factors that cross gender relations and the elements that influence them, including the type of migration and their motivations, the labor participation of women and men in both countries, the role of the state on the issue of migration and gender, and the influence of culture and perceptions on gender relations in work environments. The three chapters that embrace this thesis were initially composed of a theoretical and normative approaches of the main definitions, the second chapter analyzes the migration flows and trends, and finally, the third chapter comment a reflection about the gender relations present in Venezuelan and Ecuadorian migrants during the period studied in Ecuador and Venezuela. Because gender studies and migration between Ecuador and Venezuela are limited, this investigation presents elements of a partially explorative research, focusing primarily on be descriptive, attempting to explain the variables involved and their correlation around the elements studied without losing sight on the characteristics of South-South migration and family migration networks that were formed between countries. In conclusion, the gender relations on the job of migrants during 1980-2010 in Ecuador and Venezuela, were carried out unevenly, however, progress are being made to change this nowadays.
Con esta investigación se buscó conocer las relaciones de género en los contextos laborales de migrantes de Ecuador y Venezuela desde 1980 a 2010. En ella se observaron los factores que atraviesan las relaciones de género y los elementos que las influyen, incluidos el tipo de migración y sus motivaciones, el tipo de participación laboral de las mujeres y hombres en ambos países, el rol del Estado en torno al tema migratorio y de género y la influencia de la cultura y las percepciones en las relaciones de género en los contextos laborales. Los tres capítulos que engloban esta tesis se componen inicialmente de las aproximaciones teóricas y normativas del tema; el segundo capítulo expone los flujos migratorios y sus tendencias; y finalmente, el tercer capítulo esboza una reflexión sobre las relaciones de género presentes en migrantes ecuatorianos y venezolanos durante el período estudiado en Ecuador y Venezuela. Debido a que los estudios migratorios de genero entre Ecuador y Venezuela son escasos, se plantearon elementos de una investigación parcialmente explorativa, enfocándose principalmente en ser descriptiva, buscando explicar las variables involucradas y su correlación en torno a los elementos que se estudiaron sin perder de vista las características de las migraciones Sur-Sur, y las redes migratorias familiares que se formaron entre los países. Como conclusión, las relaciones sociales de género en contextos laborales de migrantes durante 1980-2010 en Ecuador y Venezuela, se llevaron a cabo en calidad de desigualdad, aunque hoy se están realizando avances para cambiar esta situación.
