With the Hymes´ work about Communicative Competence, the door to more successful learners was opened. Hymes pointed out the necessity of communication in a second language acquisition. Nowadays, the use of Communicative Competence marks the base in many educational institutions; the ways to get this tendency in the classroom have become a very important tool in the development of approaches that permit a communicative environment. In this work the main goal is to determine how the Twelve Principles for Teaching English proposed by Douglas Brown develop Communicative Competence in the classroom and for getting this, we will developed the conceptualization the term Communicative Competence.
