RESUMENEl presente artículo detalla la implementación de un centro de datos alineado a los objetivos estratégicos de la Universidad Central del Ecuador (UCE): Academia, Vinculación e Investigación. Los autores aplicaron los estándares de gestión tecnológica COBIT e ITIL, para lograr el alineamiento del centro de datos con los objetivos estratégicos de la institución. Para la implementación se aplicó PMBOK, con el propósito de garantizar la ejecución, control, análisis de riesgo y obtención de los objetivos del proyecto. El resultado obtenido es un centro de datos con tecnología de vanguardia que permite el posicionamiento de la tecnología como apoyo a la docencia, investigación y vinculación. El centro de datos está diseñado como una ventana abierta a la comunidad universitaria, su operación permite conocer el funcionamiento de una infraestructura robusta, generando confianza y facilitando el desarrollo de proyectos de investigación y vinculación con componentes tecnológicos. Todo esto, enmarcado en altos niveles de seguridad de la información y en línea con los estándares de un centro de datos TIER II (Clasificación según el Uptime Institute).Palabras clave: Data center, COBIT, ITIL, alineación estratégica, universidad, buenas prácticas. ABSTRACTThis article describes the implementation of a Data Centre conform the strategic objectives of the Central University of Ecuador: Academia, Linkage and Research. The authors applied COBIT and ITIL, standards of technology management, for the alignment of the Data Centre with the institutional strategic objectives. For the implementation, the PMBOK is applied with the purpose of guaranteeing the execution, control, risk analysis and the obtainment of the project objectives. The result is a Data Centre conform with the state-of-the-art technology supporting research and linkage. The Data Centre is designed as an open window for the university community, illustrating during operation the functioning of the robust infrastructure, generating trust and facilitating the development of research projects and links with technological components, under high security levels of information and in line with the standards of a TIER II (Classification for the Institute Uptime) data centre.Keywords: Data center, COBIT, ITIL, strategic alienation, university, good practices.
