Description

The workload for aviation maintenance personnel in Ecuador is an issue of importance in aviation safety, but unlike for pilots, little attention to this problem has been noted in the aviation safety literature, including published regulations. This research project was designed to identify potential problems that directly affect maintenance safety, an undertaking which had not been carried out under a research model. Safety deficiencies can result in damage and/or injury if workload of maintenance personnel is not regarded. On the ramps and in the hangars, psychosocial factors such as stress, fatigue, noise, and workload were observed and analyzed with respect to work assignments. In this investigation a survey of factors was used to identify psychosocial influencers of workload effectiveness of technical personnel working within naval aviation maintenance. The survey was designed to query the maintenance personnel someplace to collect information from a total population of 50 technical personnel in naval aviation to identify leading factors affecting their performance. The studied variables were submitted to rigorous statistical analysis to ascertain the degree of association between the selected factors, and the aircraft maintenance personnel?s workload.
