Description

Ecuador is one of the 12 most diverse countries in the world in terms of landscape and biodiversity including agro-biodiversity, languages, people and culture. Approximately 10 million hectares of Ecuador?s territory are native forest that provides vital ecosystems services, such as freshwater, habitat, food, among others. Currently, only around 4 million hectares of these forests are considered protected areas. The rest of the native areas are owned by private individual and indigenous communities which depend on these forests for survival.
