Oral hygiene habits, acces to oral health information and use of dental service amonsgt pregnant women in Giasgow

Description: Women experience hormonal changes within the sex hormones, progesterone and oestrogen, during pregnancy which can lead to periodontal disease or aggravate an existing periodontal disease affecting both the mother and the infant if left untreated. There have been a number of oral health promotion interventions following the success of the Childsmile programme in Glasgow, nevertheless research has shown that national surveys do not include statistical data on pregnant women?s oral health, thus no evaluations on the existing oral health promotion interventions for these women have been made.
