Juramento constitucional y elecciones gaditanas en el corregimiento de Otavalo, 1813 (Estudios)

Description: The article studies how the ceremonies of publication and swearing in of the Spanish Monarchy Political Constitution took place in Otavalo; and how the establishment of the constitutional council of Otavalo and the elections were carried out. In this town, the Constitution was received as the expression of the Spanish nation in the absence of the king. However, the link between the constitutional text and the absent monarch gave the Otavalo Cadiz moment a strong loyalist flavour.
El artículo estudia cómo se desarrollaron en Otavalo las ceremonias de publicación y jura de la Constitución Política de la Monarquía Española; y la forma en que se llevó a cabo la instauración del cabildo constitucional de Otavalo y los comicios. En esta población, la Constitución fue recibida como la manifestación de la nación española ante la ausencia del rey. Sin embargo, el vínculo entre el texto constitucional y el monarca ausente dieron al momento gaditano otavaleño un fuerte aire fidelista.
