Eco-refugiados un desafío para el derecho internacional (Otros Temas)

Description: Every year thousands of people see themselves in the need of leaving their homes since they are not habitable anymore due to ecological adversities. This article analyzes the situation of the eco-refugees from a legal perspective. In the first place the concept of this term is reviewed in order to consider afterwards the environmental issues that force people to move from their country of origin, and finally, their position in International Law taking into consideration the Convention on the Status of Refugees of 1951 and its additional Protocols.
Cada año son miles de personas las que deben abandonar sus hogares pues estos ya no son habitables debido a adversidades ecológicas. En este artículo se analiza la situación de los eco-refugiados desde una perspectiva jurídica. En primer lugar se revisa el concepto de este término para después examinar los motivos ambientales que obligan a las personas a movilizarse de sus países de origen y finalmente se toma en cuenta su posición en el Derecho Internacional para lo que se estudió la Convención sobre el Estatuto de los Refugiados de 1951 y sus Protocolos adicionales.
