In Sanguínea (2019), her first novel, the Ecuadorian author Gabriela Ponce Padilla shows the disintegration of a woman’s emotional universe and her attachment to the erotic pulses that rule her life as she undergoes a process of separation. These trigger a flow of profound reflections and an acceptance of the lack of definitive certainties, as well as the impossibility of having pain culminate or desire drift. This register of what is always happening, of that which does not cease, inscribes itself in what Maurice Blanchot called “the disaster”, that which “ruins everything and at the same time leaves everything as it is”. Embodying the imminence of disaster —which, following the French philosopher, never ensues— is the most important work of the protagonist of this novel and leads to literary registers that oppose narration as untouched and categorical with respect to reality or the truth. The list is one of these registers, perhaps the one that Ponce privileges over others, and the one that most clearly confronts us with the absence of narration.
En Sanguínea (2019), su primera novela, la escritora ecuatoriana Gabriela Ponce Padilla muestra el resquebrajamiento del universo afectivo de una mujer en proceso de separación y el apego a las pulsiones eróticas que rigen su vida. Estas propician un fluir de profundas reflexiones y la aceptación de la ausencia de certezas definitivas, así como la imposibilidad de la culminación del dolor o de las derivas del deseo. Ese registro de lo que está siempre aconteciendo, de lo que no cesa, se inscribe en lo que Maurice Blanchot denominó “el desastre”, lo que “arruina todo al tiempo que deja todo tal cual”. Vivir en el cuerpo la inminencia del desastre —que, siguiendo al filósofo francés, nunca sobreviene— es el trabajo más importante de la protagonista de esta novela y abre paso a registros escriturales que se oponen a la narración como escritura intocada y definitiva respecto de la realidad o la verdad. La lista es uno de estos registros, quizá el que privilegia Ponce por sobre otros y el que con más claridad nos enfrenta a la ausencia de narración.
