OBJETIVO: Presentar una perspectiva científica acerca del tratamiento temprano de maloclusiones clase III. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: El presente estudio se trata de una revisión de literatura. En este contexto, se realiza una búsqueda de artículos en base a una estrategia que parte de criterios de búsqueda, inclusión y exclusión. Se incluyeron tipos de estudios: casos clínicos, reportes de caso y series de casos, estudios que sean mayores al año 2015, estudios publicados en el idioma Español e Inglés. Se recato la información obtenida de las bases de datos científicas: MedLine, Scielo, Redalyc, Cochrane, Pubmed, Dialnet, Scopus. RESULTADOS: Se seleccionaron 17 artículos, que estudiaron el tratamiento temprano en maloclusión clase III. Entre los tipos de tratamiento que destacan en esta revisión se encuentran: los retroestimuladores, Sagital de tres vías, Pistas anteriores directas, placas superiores acompañadas con arco de eschler. Los hallazgos muestran que los tratamientos aplicados en general cumplieron con los objetivos planteados en cada caso. Respecto a los resultados evaluados en cada uno de los artículos, destaca en el 100% de los estudios cambios favorables y mejoras significativas en los pacientes a partir de la aplicación de los tratamientos ortopédicos tempranos. CONCLUSIONES: Las características de cada paciente serán determinantes al momento de establecer el tratamiento así como un diagnóstico adecuado. A pesar de que los efectos varían entre un aparato y otro, el objetivo general del uso es menos invasivos que la ortodoncia o la cirugía ya que buscan mejorar la funcionalidad dental, el estado esqueletal y el aspecto facial.
OBJECTIVE: To present a scientific perspective on the early treatment of Class III malocclusions. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study is about a literature review. In this context, a search for articles is performed on the basis of a strategy based on search criteria, inclusion and exclusion. Included types of studies: clinical cases, case reports and case series, studies that are larger to the year 2015, studies published in Spanish and English. Information is withdrawn obtained from scientific databases: MedLine, Scielo, Redalyc, Cochrane, Pubmed, Dialnet, Scopus. RESULTS: 17 articles were selected, which studied the Early treatment in class III malocclusion. Among the types of treatment that stand out in this review you will find: Retrostimulators, Sagittal three-way, Tracks direct anteriors, upper plates accompanied with eschler's arch. the findings show that the treatments applied in general met the objectives raised in each case. Regarding the results evaluated in each of the articles, stands out in 100% of the studies favorable changes and significant improvements in patients from the application of early orthopedic treatments. CONCLUSIONS: The characteristics of each patient will be decisive at the moment to establish the treatment as well as an adequate diagnosis. Even though the effects vary between one device and another, the general objective of the use is less invasive than the orthodontics or surgery as they seek to improve dental functionality, skeletal status and facial appearance.
