RELACIÓN ENTRE EL ÍNDICE CPOD Y EL IMPACTO DE LA CARIES DENTAL EN LA CALIDAD DE VIDA EN NIÑOS DE 11 A 12 AÑOS EN LA UNIDAD EDUCATIVA PANAMÁ, DE LA PARROQUIA SUCRE, DE LA CIUDAD DE CUENCA EN EL PERIÓDO 2015.

OBJETIVO: Determinar la relación entre el índice CPOD y el impacto de la caries dental en la calidad de vida en niños de 11 a 12 años en la Unidad Educativa “Panamá”, de la parroquia Sucre, de la ciudad de Cuenca en el período 2015.\nMATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: La presente investigación fue descriptiva, documental y retrospectiva en la que se evaluaron a 94 escolares (48 mujeres y 46 hombres) de 11 a 12 años de edad de la Unidad Educativa Panamá de la parroquia Sucre, de la ciudad de Cuenca en el período 2015. Los datos fueron de tipo cuantitativo y cualitativo. Se aplicó el índice CPOD para describir la presencia de caries dental y el CHILD OIDP Index para medir la calidad de vida en los estudiantes.\nRESULTADOS: En base a estos datos los resultados alcanzados fueron: la presencia de caries en un 91,5% relacionado al impacto de la calidad de vida en los entrevistados, en donde el nivel de prevalencia general del índice CPOD se encuentra en nivel “alto” con 28,72% siendo este para mujeres del 25% que equivale a un nivel “moderado” y para hombres 34,8% en el nivel “alto”. Según el impacto en la calidad de vida relacionada con la salud bucal el 52,13% presenta un nivel “regular” siendo así en mujeres 43,75% y en hombres 60,78%. La prevalencia de las condiciones bucales que afectan más a los estudiantes son: caída de un diente de leche 76,6%, dientes sensibles 64,9% y posición de los dientes con 58,5% siendo estas las de mayor promedio en el estudio. Dentro de los desempeños bucales que se relacionan a la calidad de vida obtuvimos que existe una mayor severidad en: el desempeño “comer alimentos” con 95,7% por lo contrario el desempeño “descansar” con el menor promedio de la investigación 22,3%.\nCONCLUSIÓN: La investigación concluye con la premisa que, se encontró relación entre el Índice CPOD y el impacto de la caries dental en la calidad de vida en niños de 11 a 12 años en la Unidad Educativa Panamá, de la Parroquia Sucre, de la ciudad de Cuenca en el período 2015.
OBJECTIVE: To determine the relationship between the DMFT index and the impact of dental caries on quality of life in children aged 11 to 12 years in the "Panama" Educational Unit of the Sucre parish of the city of Cuenca in the period 2015. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The present study was descriptive, documental and retrospective, in which 94 students (48 women and 46 men) aged 11 to 12 years of age from the Panama Educational Unit of the Sucre parish of the city of Cuenca were evaluated. Period 2015. The data were of quantitative and qualitative type. The CPOD index was applied to describe the presence of dental caries and the CHILD OIDP Index to measure quality of life in students. RESULTS: Based on these data, the results were: the presence of caries in 91.5% related to the impact of the quality of life in the interviewees, where the general prevalence level of the DMFT index is high "With 28.72% being this for women of 25% that is equivalent to a" moderate "level and for men 34.8% in the" high "level. According to the impact on quality of life related to oral health, 52.13% have a "regular" level, being 43.75% for women and 60.78% for men. The prevalence of oral conditions that most affect the students are: drop of a milk tooth 76.6%, sensitive teeth 64.9% and position of the teeth with 58.5% being these the highest average in the study. Among the oral performances that are related to the quality of life we found that there is a greater severity in: performance "eating food" with 95.7% otherwise the performance "rest" with the lowest average of the research 22.3 %. CONCLUSION: The research concludes with the premise that a relationship was found between the DMFT index and the impact of dental caries on the quality of life in children aged 11 to 12 years in the Educational Unit of Panama, Sucre Parish, in the city Of Cuenca in the period 2015.
