Impacto de la inversión extranjera directa en el crecimiento económico del Ecuador. Periodo 2000-2019

El siguiente estudio tiene la finalidad de analizar el impacto de la inversión extranjera directa sobre el crecimiento económico del Ecuador en el periodo 2000-2019. El desarrollo del trabajo utiliza datos de periodicidad trimestral obtenidos en el Banco Central de Ecuador a excepción del Grado de Apertura Comercial que es el resultado de la formula ((X+M) /PIB) y se estima un modelo de Vectores Autoregresivos (VAR), en donde se puede ver que la IED no tiene efectos significativos sobre el PIB, sin embargo, el Grado de Apertura Comercial muestra un patrón significativo y positivo ante el mismo. De igual forma, podemos observar como el Grado de Apertura Comercial afecta levemente en los valores a futuro a la Inversión Extranjera Directa debido a la inconsistencia del efecto a través del tiempo. Por otra parte, la IED si tiene un efecto significativo por lo menos en los primeros periodos en las variables de Riesgo País y el Grado Apertura Comercial.
This study aims to analyze the impact of foreign direct investment on the economic growth of Ecuador in the period 2000-2019. For the work development, quarterly data obtained from the Central Bank of Ecuador are used except for the Degree of Trade Openness, which is the result of the formula ((X+M) /GDP), and an Autoregressive Vector model (VAR) is estimated, where it is observed that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has no significant effect on the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). However, the Degree of Trade Openness shows a positive pattern in relation to it. Similarly, we can see how the Degree of Trade Openness slightly affects the forward-looking values of Foreign Direct Investment due to the inconsistency of the effect over time. On the other hand, the FDI has a significant effect on the Country Risk and the Degree of Trade Openness variables, at least in the first periods.
