Registro de mordida como técnica de identificación humana en odontología forense. Revisión de la literatura.

La Odontología en el ámbito Legal ha cobrado importancia en la identificación de cadáveres, a través de los diversos elementos que constituyen el sistema estomatognático, realizando comparaciones técnicas y científicas, para reconocer la importancia de los registros dentarios, prótesis dentales como como técnica de Identificación Humana en Odontología forense siendo esta una rama importante auxiliar de la justicia. Objetivo: Analizar la importancia del Registro de Mordida como Técnica de Identificación Humana en Odontología forense y conocer el protocolo de identificación de huellas en cadáveres a través de estos registros, su origen, características, tipos y patrones. Métodos: La investigación es de revisión bibliográfica y el diseño es descriptivo, retrospectivo y analítico. Se realizó revisión bibliográfica de 30 artículos científicos de los últimos 5 años; analizando los títulos, resúmenes y conclusiones de los estudios para identificar los más relevantes por su estrecha relación con el tema de investigación. Discusión: Jaramillo, (2019) establece que analizar la huella de mordida es importante la calidad del registro y dependerá de la cantidad de fuerza empleada durante la masticación, las características de la piel y el tiempo de duración de la impresión de los dientes; Gutiérrez; (2018) Sin embargo, Tiol; (2020) refiere que las marcas de mordida no siempre son estables, ni al producirse ni al transcurrir el tiempo y existe la posibilidad de que existan distorsiones y esto provoque modificación de las marcas y dimensiones de la mordedura. Briem, (2022) aclara que la carencia de registros odontológicos dificulta gravemente el proceso de identificación humana. Conclusiones: La odontología en el área forense tiene mucho potencial, que se utiliza para identificación de cadáveres en catástrofes y también en escenas de crímenes, por ellos es sumamente importante la conservación de los registros dentales de los pacientes ya que en el futuro servirán como datos antemortem cuando exista implicaciones legales. Los registros dentales son útiles como técnica de identificación humana, sin embargo, las evidencias de las marcas de mordida son cuestionables, ya que se basa en el razonamiento inductivo y no existe evidencia científica y estadística verdadera.
Dentistry has gained importance in the Legal field in identifying corpses through the elements of the stomatognathic system, making technical and scientific comparisons, recognizing the importance of dental records and dentures as a human identification technique in forensic dentistry as this is an essential auxiliary branch of justice. Objective: To analyze the importance of Bite Registration as a Human Identification Technique in forensic dentistry and to know the protocol for identifying fingerprints in corpses through these records, their origin, characteristics, types, and patterns. Methods: The research is a literature review, and the design is descriptive, retrospective, and analytical. A bibliographic review of 30 scientific articles from the last five years was conducted, analyzing the titles, abstracts, and conclusions of the studies to identify the most relevant ones based on their close relationship with the research topic. Discussion: Jaramillo (2019) states that analyzing the bite registration is vital to the quality of the record and will depend on the amount of force used during chewing, the characteristics of the skin, and the duration time of the dental impression, Gutierrez (2018). However, Tiol (2020) refers that bite registrations are not always stable, neither when produced nor over time, and there is the possibility that there are distortions that causes the modification of the bite impressions and dimensions. Briem (2022) clarifies that the lack of dental records seriously hinders the process of human identification. Conclusions: Dentistry in the forensic area has a lot of potential, which is used for identification of corpses in catastrophes and also in crime scenes, for them it is extremely important the preservation of dental records of patients since in the future they will serve as antemortem data when there are legal implications. Dental records are useful as a human identification technique, however, bite mark evidence is questionable, as it is based on inductive reasoning and there is no true scientific and statistical evidence.
