La investigación tiene como objetivo general elaborar una propuesta mediante la aplicación del sistema de costeo ABC para optimizar el control de los costos y gastos en la prestación del servicio de agua potable y alcantarillado de la empresa pública de agua potable y alcantarillado del Cantón Mejía EPAA-MEJIA.Esta investigación está formada por 5 capítulos. En el capítulo uno se analiza los aspectos generales de la situación actual del servicio de agua potable y alcantarillado desde un enfoque global hasta llegar al análisis local de este servicio en la ciudad de Machachi Cantón Mejía. En el capítulo Dos se conoce el análisis organizacional actual de EPAA-MEJIA, conociendo su Filosofía institucional, estructura organización, e identificación de los procesos y actividades del sistema de agua potable. Capitulo Tres se estudia los aspectos Teóricos que son parte del sistema de costo por actividades ABC. Capitulo Cuatro en este se realiza la propuesta del sistema de costeo ABC para determinar los costos y gastos que se incurre en la producción y distribución de este servicio ya que la empresa ha mantenido el uso de la Formula Polinomica la cual permite calcular los costos y gastos de una manera global. En este capítulo se realiza un análisis porcentual para realizar la distribución de los costos en cada actividad de acuerdo con el impacto e importancia de cada una dentro del proceso de potabilización del Agua para así conocer que actividad debe ser parte en la toma de decisiones gerenciales para así realizar el uso eficiente y efectivo de los recursos que poseen. Obteniendo así que la empresa deberá vender el m3 de agua potable a 0.49 con una producción Mensual de 134.762 m3 mensuales y así poder cubrir los gastos incurridos. Este estudio servirá de base para la toma de decisiones para futuros periodos, porque la base de análisis fueron datos proporcionados para el año 2017. Capitulo Cinco en este se determina las conclusiones y recomendaciones obtenidas a través del estudio realizado para EPAA-MEJIA.
The investigation has as main goal to elaborate a proposal through the application of an ABC costing system for optimizing the control of costs and expenses in the provision of the service of potable water and sewerage of the public company of potable water and sewerage of the Mejía Cantón EPAA-MEJIA. This investigation is formed by 5 chapters. In Chapter One it is analyzed the general aspects of the current situation of the service of potable water and sewerage from a global perspective until the local analysis of this service in the city of Machachi Cantón Mejía. In Chapter Two it ís acknowledged the organizational analysis of EPPA-MEJIA, getting to know its institutional philosophy, organizational structure, and identifícation of the processes and activities of the system of potable water. Pn Chapter Three it is studied the theoretical aspects that are part of the costing system by ABC activities. In Chapter Four it is carried out the proposal ABC costing system to determine the costs and expenses that incur in the production and distribution of this service, since the company has kept the use of the Polinomial Formula which allows to calculate costs and expenses in a global way. In this chapter it is carried out a percentual analysis for the distribution of costs in each activity according to the impact and importance of each one inside the process of water potabilization to get to know which part of the activity should be part of management decision-making so that it is carried out the efficient and effective use of the resources available. This way it is obtained that the company should sell the m3 of potable water in 0.49 with a monthly production of 134.762 m3 a month to cover for the expenses incurred. This study will serve as a basis for decision-making for future periods because the basis of analysis was data provided by the year of 2017. In Chapter Five it is determined the conclusions and recommendations obtained though the study carried out for EPAA-MEJIA
