Junto con las cambiantes condiciones de vida, han surgido varias orientaciones en el turismo. En lugar de los centros turísticos convencionales, se prefieren los lugares tranquilos, naturales y auténticos. Sin embargo, la producción económica proporcionada por esta iniciativa no ha podido alcanzar el nivel y la sostenibilidad esperados debido a la falta de una base planificada y racional desde el principio. La presión incontrolada generada a partir de esto podría tener impactos irreversibles en los paisajes naturales y culturales. Por tanto, un enfoque racional, práctico y de conservación la planificación debe implementarse para garantizar un desarrollo sostenible en regiones donde aún no existen actividades turísticas intensas pero que tienen un potencial significativo. La presente investigación busca implementar un plan de desarrollo turístico para la zona rural de El Progreso en el cantón de San Cristóbal, ya que es una zona que tiene el potencial para desarrollar un modelo de turismo rural sostenible a lo largo del tiempo.
Along with the changing living conditions, various orientations in tourism have emerged. Instead of conventional resorts, quiet, natural and authentic places are preferred. However, the economic output provided by this initiative has not been able to reach the expected level and sustainability due to the lack of a planned and rational basis from the beginning. The uncontrolled pressure generated from this could have irreversible impacts on natural and cultural landscapes. Therefore, a rational, practical and conservation approach to planning must be implemented to ensure sustainable development in regions where there are not yet intense tourist activities but which have significant potential. This research seeks to implement a tourism development plan for the rural area of El Progreso in the canton of San Cristóbal, since it is an area that has the potential to develop a sustainable rural tourism model over time.
