Prevalencia de maculopatías asociada a antimaláricos en pacientes reumatológicos mediante Retinografía Multicolor durante el periodo 2019 - 2020 en Guayaquil.

La hidroxicloroquina y la cloroquina son fármacos antimaláricos conocidos por la toxicidad que producen en la retina, por lo tanto, es importante hacer un correcto seguimiento a los pacientes que las utilizan para poder tomar las decisiones correctas a tiempo. Una de las pruebas que se realiza es la retinografía multicolor de polo posterior, prueba relativamente nueva en el área de la oftalmología, dicha prueba fue realizada en nuestro estudio con el fin de demostrar su eficacia en detección de toxicidad retiniana en comparación de otros exámenes oftalmológicos. El estudio consto de 17 pacientes que acudieron a la realización de las pruebas voluntariamente, a estos se les realizo historia clínica, retinografía con tecnología multicolor, OCT, agudeza visual y campimetría. Como conclusión podemos decir que esta retinografía multicolor es aconsejable para llevar un seguimiento a los pacientes consumidores de estos fármacos de larga data y que la toxicidad retiniana por antimaláricos es infrecuente.
Hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine are antimalarial drugs known for the toxicity they produce in the retina, therefore, it is important to properly follow up on patients who use them in order to make the correct decisions on time. One of the tests carried out is multicolour posterior pole retinography, a relatively new test in the area of ophthalmology. This test was performed in our study in order to demonstrate its efficacy in detecting retinal toxicity compared to other ophthalmological examinations. The study consisted of 17 patients who voluntarily attended the tests. They underwent a medical history, retinography with multicolour technology, OCT, visual acuity and campimetry. In conclusion, we can say that this multicolour retinography is advisable to follow up on patients who are consumers of these long-standing drugs and that retinal toxicity due to antimalarials is infrequent.
