Introducción: La prevalencia de las complicaciones postoperatorias de la tiroidectomía ha aumentado en el transcurso de los años siendo así más perjudicial para las mujeres en un 80% en las edades de 50 y 60 años. Y es así como tampoco ha variado el índice de prevalencia en las complicaciones que se dieron seguimiento en los años del 2017-2018. Objetivo: Evaluar las complicaciones postoperatorias de la tiroidectomía total en pacientes mayores de 18 años en el hospital Teodoro Maldonado Carbo en los años 2017-2018. Metodología: Nuestro estudio fue retrospectivo - descriptivo, recolectando información de base de datos de 443 historias clínicas sobre pacientes que presentaban enfermedades tiroideas y terminaron en cirugía total causando así complicaciones de larga data en los años 2017 y 2018. Se realizó la estadística de cada variable por un programa avalado por nuestra universidad obteniendo la frecuencia y porcentaje de cada variable. Resultados: Durante los años 2017 y 2018, en el Hospital Teodoro Maldonado Carbo, se atendieron 443 paciente con diagnóstico de tumor benigno y maligno de tiroides, de edad mayor a 40 años, de los cuales 184 y 197 fueron mujeres entre 2017 y 2018 un total de 381 pacientes de sexo femenino, 37 y 25 fueron pacientes de sexo masculino entre 2017 y 2018 un total de 62 pacientes. Conclusiones: La prevalencia de complicaciones de tiroidectomía total por TM (Tumor Maligno) y TB (Tumor Benigno) en nuestro medio ha ido incrementando, especialmente en pacientes mujeres ≥ 50 años.
Introduction: The prevalence of postoperative complications of thyroidectomy has increased over the years, thus making it more harmful for women by 80% in the ages of 50 and 60. And that is how the prevalence rate has not changed in the complications that were recorded in the years of 2017-2018. Objective: To evaluate the postoperative complications of total thyroidectomy in patients over 18 years of age at the Teodoro Maldonado Carbo hospital in the years 2017-2018. Methods: The study was descriptive and retrospctive, collecting information from a database of 443 medical records about patients who presented thyroid diseases and terminated in total surgery causing long-standing complications in 2017 and 2018. The statistics of each variable were performed by a program endorsed by our university in which our tutor was attentive. Results During the years 2017 and 2018, at the Teodoro Maldonado Carbo Hospital, 443 patients older than 40 years old were treated with a diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid tumor, of which 381 were female patients and 62 male patients.
