Las piezas periodísticas que se construyen en los medios no son objetivas, sino una representación de la realidad interpretada por el periodista que lo escribe y filtrada por el medio. Los medios, como constructores de la realidad, influyen en la percepción que tiene la sociedad sobre un grupo de personas. Desde que comenzó la llegada masiva de inmigrantes venezolanos, Ecuador ha recibido aproximadamente a 400 mil de ellos, quienes suelen enfrentar una situación precaria y están propensos a ser discriminados. La investigación consiste en analizar el discurso de las piezas periodísticas que se publican en los medios GK y El Universo, en sus páginas web sobre los inmigrantes venezolanos. Se concluyó que el medio GK ejerce el contrapoder, mientras que El Universo mantiene una xenofobia escondida. Este último suele ser el caso más común a nivel general, pues se asocia a los migrantes con un encuadre negativo. Por ello, se recomienda utilizar un enfoque de derechos, hacer énfasis en el contexto, evitar el sensacionalismo y que los periodistas reciban una preparación adecuada para comunicar el tema.
The journalistic pieces that are built in media are not objective, but a representation of reality interpreted by the journalist who wrote it and filtered by the media. The media, as constructors of reality, influence the perception that society has of a group of people. Since the massive arrival of Venezuelan immigrants began, Ecuador has received approximately 400,000 immigrants who often face a precarious situation and are prone to discrimination. This research consists of analyzing the discourse of the journalistic pieces published in GK and El Universo on their websites about Venezuelan immigrants. It was concluded that GK exerts the counterpower, while El Universo maintains a hidden xenophobia. The latter is usually the most common case at a general level, since migrants are associated with a negative frame. For this reason, it is recommended to use a rights approach, to emphasize the context, to avoid sensationalism and for journalists to receive adequate preparation to communicate the issue.
