- Description
Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is a type of cancer that originates from blymphocytes. It is the most common histological subtype worldwide. Information on the relationship between C-MYC protein and LDCGB is practically non-existent in our country. Objective: Evaluate the prevalence of the C-MYC protein in patients with DLBCL treated at the SOLCA Hospital in Guayaquil in the period 2014 - 2016. Methodology: An observational, descriptive, retrospective and prevalence study was carried out in patients diagnosed with DLBCL in the SOLCA Hospital of Guayaquil, with a total of 79 cases in the period 2014-2016, of which 7 cases were excluded because they were not the histological type of diagnosis. Results: Only 16 (22.2%) patients with LDCGB had positive C-MYC protein by immunohistochemistry. The subtype that most frequently overexpressed MYC was the germinal center group with 56.3%. Conclusions: In the population studied, the C-MYC protein did not show a significant difference in terms of the prognosis of patients diagnosed with DLBCL treated at the Solca Hospital in Guayaquil.
