El principal motivo para la realización de esta investigación fue la necesidad de innovar en la manera de arreglar música nacional para formatos vocales, por esa razón se decidió hacer un arreglo de un pasillo ecuatoriano aplicando las técnicas de orquestación de Darmon Meader, arreglista de la agrupación vocal “New York Voices”. El presente trabajo de titulación posee un enfoque cualitativo y se basa en los métodos de investigación deductivo y de observación. Los instrumentos de recolección de datos utilizados fueron: tesis de producción musical, revistas de música, libros, entrevistas, transcripciones de obras musicales y análisis de audios y partituras. Se estudiaron los arreglos “Round Midnight” y “Stolen Moments”, de los cuales se pudo extraer información acerca de las técnicas de orquestación de Darmon Meader, que más adelante fueron aplicadas en el Pasillo ecuatoriano “Ángel de Luz”. Al final de este trabajo de titulación se demostró la factibilidad del alcance y enfoque de la propuesta. Se espera que los resultados obtenidos sirvan de incentivo para arreglistas, agrupaciones vocales y músicos en general que deseen realizar innovaciones en temas autóctonos recurriendo a nuevas propuestas de orquestación.
The main reason for the realization of this research was the need to innovate in the way of arranging national music for vocal formats, for that reason it was decided to make an arrangement of an Ecuadorian “Pasillo” applying the orchestration techniques of Darmon Meader, the arranger of the vocal group "New York Voices". The present titling work has a qualitative approach and is based on the methods deductive and of observation. The instruments of data collection used are thesis of musical production, musical journals, books, interviews, transcriptions of musical themes and analysis of audios and sheet music. There arrangements studied were "Round Midnight" and "Stolen Moments", from which it was possible to extract information about the orchestration techniques of Darmon Meader, that were later applied in the Ecuadorian “Pasillos” "Ángel de Luz". At the end of this titling work, the feasibility of the scope and approach of the proposal was demonstrated. It is hoped that the results obtained will serve as an incentive for arrangers, vocal groups and musicians in general who wish to innovate in autochthonous subjects using new proposals of orchestration.
