La apendicitis es provocada por la inflamación de un órgano del cuerpo denominado “Apéndice”, se encuentra ubicado cerca del colon ascendente en la fosa iliaca derecha y es de tamaño pequeño es producida por una obstrucción , contenido tóxicos y fecales retenido, el este estudio fue realizado en los pacientes que asistieron al Hospital General del Norte de Guayaquil IESS los ceibos desde el mes de septiembre del 2017al mes de agosto del 2018, el Objetivo: Determinar la Prevalencia de apendicitis en pacientes que asistieron a un Hospital General de la Ciudad de Guayaquil de Septiembre del 2017 a Agosto del 2018 la Metodología que se utilizó fue de enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo descriptivo y retrospectivo. Se aplicó una matriz de observación indirecta. La población estuvo formada por 408 pacientes diagnosticados con apendicitis. Obteniendo como Resultado de dicha investigación se presenta más en hombre con el 52% y en las mujeres 48% con respecto a la edad fue de 15 a 40 años en un 64%, y la complicación más relevante fue la perforación de apéndice con el 32%. Discusión en comparación a otros estudios, se identificó que la mayoría de los casos de apendicitis se presentan en varones y en la raza mestiza. Llegando a la Conclusión que se presenta más en varones que en mujeres y en la raza mestiza.

Obtaining as a result of this research is more in men with 52% and in women 48% with respect to age was 15 to 40 years in 64%, and the most relevant complication was the perforation of appendix with 32 %. Discussion In comparison to other studies, it was identified that the majority of cases of appendicitis occur in males and in the mestizo race. Arriving at the Conclusion that appears more in males than in women and in the mestizo race.
