This essay will discuss dysthanasia and how this practice affects the right to a dignified death. In the Chapter I we will seek to make connections by analyzing various figures such as euthanasia and orthothanasia until we reach the dysthanasia concept; in the same chapter we will discuss human dignity and the relationship with the bioethical principle of autonomyLater, in Chapter II aspects that make the configuration of the right to a dignified death, from the limits on the provision of human life, to the limitation of treatment and palliative care they will be studied.Finally, Chapter III deals with death in Ecuador, dignity is analyzed as an essential feature of the Constitutional State of Rights and Justice, then relate the dignity with informed consent and finally talk about the process of decision-making in the terminally ill. En el presente ensayo se hablará de la distanasia y como ésta práctica afecta al derecho a la muerte digna. En el Capítulo I se buscará realizar conexiones mediante el análisis de distintas figuras como la eutanasia y la ortotanasia hasta llegar a un concepto de distanasia; en el mismo capítulo se hablará de la dignidad humana y la relación con el principio bioético de autonomía. Posteriormente, en el Capítulo II se estudiarán aspectos que hacen posible la configuración del derecho a la muerte digna, desde los límites a la disposición de la vida humana, hasta la limitación del esfuerzo terapéutico y los cuidados paliativos. Finalmente, el Capítulo III trata sobre la muerte en el Ecuador, se analiza la dignidad como característica esencial del Estado Constitucional de derechos y justicia, para después relacionar la dignidad con el consentimiento informado y por último hablar sobre el proceso de toma de decisiones en los enfermos terminales.
