Determinación de la resistencia de la diarrea viral bovina DVB, en las Islas San Cristobal y Santa Cruz del Archipielago de Galápagos

Description

The viral bovine diarrhea (BVDV) is an infectious disease with a worldwide distribution mostly in dairy-cattle herds. However, there is not any survey on BVDVin the Galapagos Islands. This is a cross-sectional study which was carried out with the aim to determine the presence of BVDV in Santa Cruz and San Cristobal islands. In total, 384 samples were taken, 269 in Santa Cruz and 115 in San Cristobal, where bovine population is 6069 and 1376, respectively. All samples were analyzed by the use of ELISA-Ab test (IDEXX). The results demonstrated 35 positives samples, with a total prevalence of 9,12%. The prevalence in Santa Cruz was 11,33%, and 4,20% in San Cristobal. The higher prevalence was founded in medium and large farms, positive reactor were comprised between 2-8 years and all of them were females...See attached file
La Diarrea Viral Bovina (DVB), es una enfermedad infectocontagiosa de distribución mundial y presente mayormente en hatos lecheros. Sin embargo, en Galápagos no se han efectuado estudios en esta enfermedad. Este es un estudio de corte transversal que se realizó con el objetivo de determinar la presencia de la DVB en las islas Santa Cruz y San Cristóbal. En total se tomaron 384 muestras sanguíneas, 269 en Santa Cruz y 115 en San Cristóbal, de una población total de 6069 y 1376 bovinos, respectivamente. Las muestras fueron analizadas mediante el test de ELISA-Ac Indirecto (IDEXX). Los resultados mostraron 35 muestras positivas, con una prevalencia total de 9,12%; la prevalencia por isla fue: 11.33% en Santa Cruz y 4,20% en San Cristóbal, siendo esta mayor en medianos y grandes productores...Ver el archivo adjunto
