Estudio sobre la relevancia de la festividad del Inti Raymi para el turismo en el cantón Otavalo, provincia de Imbabura

The present work aims to demonstrate if the festival of the Inti Raymi has relevance for the canton of Otavalo from the tourist point of view. The Inti Raymi (Festival of the sun) is made in homage and thanks to the Pachamama (mother earth) for the harvest received of all the Kichwa celebrations, Inti Raymi is one of the prevailing cultural manifestations that has managed to overcome systems such as the invasion, the colony, and the republic, which at the time tried to eliminated the validity of this tradition (Kowi, 2009). Through the research carried out, is possible to determine that Inti Raymi festival has relevance for tourism in Otavalo, but not quantitative importance but rather qualitative character. The celebration is not attractive enough to be taken into account in tourist packages offered by different operators. Inti Raymi, despite its great conceptual wealth preserved through the centuries, is not a celebration that receives great promotion by communication channels, social networks, municipality and Ministry of Tourism. According to the research carried out, the topic of study is considered as a problem of incorrect management of festivities, due to the lack of management. The people who came to this celebration are mostly local indigenous and in less quantity Ecuadorians and foreign tourist. Part of the recommendations are that the Ministry of Tourism, sectional government and communities must organize and work together to promote these celebration, in order to generate more tourism and increase the local economy without scarifying the essence of the festivity.
El presente trabajo busca conocer y demostrar si la festividad del Inti Raymi tiene o no relevancia para el cantón de Otavalo desde el punto de vista turístico. El Inti Raymi (fiesta del Sol) se realiza en homenaje y agradecimiento a la pachamama (madre tierra) por las cosechas recibidas. De todas las celebraciones kichwas, el Inti Raymi constituye uno de las manifestaciones culturales vigentes que ha logrado superar sistemas como la invasión, la colonia, y la república, que en su momento intentaron eliminar la vigencia de esta tradición (Kowi, 2009). A través de la investigación realizada se logra determinar que la fiesta del Inti Raymi si tiene una relevancia para el turismo del cantón Otavalo, pero no una importancia de carácter cuantitativo sino más bien cualitativo, ya que todavía no se ha logrado convertirla en una fiesta lo suficientemente atractiva para ser tomada en cuenta en los paquetes turísticos ofertados por las diferentes operadoras. El Inti Raymi, pese a su gran riqueza conceptual preservada a través de los siglos, no es una fiesta que reciba una gran promoción en medios de comunicación o redes sociales. De acuerdo a la investigación realizada se considera el tema de estudio como un problema del incorrecto manejo de las festividades, por la falta de gestión. Las personas que acuden a esta fiesta en su mayoría son gente de los alrededores del cantón Otavalo y en menor cantidad turistas nacionales y extranjeros, por lo que parte de las recomendaciones que se plantean, son que el Ministerio de Turismo, los gobiernos seccionales y las comunidades deben organizarse y trabajar en conjunto para promover estas fiestas y lograr más visitas con el fin de mover el aparato productivo local y que sea una fuente de ingresos para las poblaciones locales, sin sacrificar la esencia de las celebraciones.
