Migración cubana en Quito: proceso de asimilación y adaptación de los migrantes cubanos a la ciudad de Quito

One of the motivations to carry out this investigative work is to corroborate the main known causes that give rise to the massive Cuban migration. Therefore, as an essential part of this study, it was considered pertinent to focus on the social-cultural part of island migrants in the city of Quito, with an emphasis on knowing and verifying if there is a process of assimilation and adaptation to the local society specifically. Taking into account and based on theories that explain the different levels of assimilation and adaptation of migrants after their arrival at the place of destination, in order to make one effective research. It became important to develop this topic, because after a thorough review of literature found a gap in existing academic research. Thus, the research was developed in a qualitative way, since this methodology allowed to carry out interviews through which it was possible to obtain valid answers as to the questions that were raised. Once I finished the research in search of, indeed the majority of the Cuban migrants interviewed have welcomed part of the culture enough to be able to be accepted, get a job and a place to live.
Una de las motivaciones para realizar este trabajo investigativo es corroborar las principales causas conocidas que dan lugar a la masiva migración cubana. Por lo tanto, como parte esencial de este estudio se creyó pertinente enfocarse en la parte social-cultural de los migrantes isleños que se encuentran en la ciudad de Quito, poniendo énfasis en conocer y verificar si se da un proceso de asimilación y adaptación de los mismos a la sociedad quiteña específicamente. Tomando en cuenta y basándose en teorías que explican los distintos niveles de la asimilación y adaptación de los migrantes luego de su llegada al lugar de destino, con el fin de que la investigación sea eficaz. Se tornó importante desarrollar este tema, ya que luego de una profunda revisión de literatura se encontró un vacío en las investigaciones académicas ya existentes. En tal virtud, la investigación se desarrolló de forma cualitativa, ya que esta metodología permitió llevar a cabo entrevistas mediante las cuales se pudo obtener respuestas valederas en cuanto a las preguntas que se plantearon. Una vez terminada la investigación se pudo determinar que, efectivamente la mayoría de los migrantes cubanos entrevistados han acogido parte de la cultura quiteña para así poder ser aceptados, conseguir empleo y un lugar donde vivir.
