Prioridad de la prescripción de antibióticos en las clínicas de la Facultad de Odontología de la UDLA en el período Enero a Diciembre del 2016

Oral infections establish one of the most common problems that is formed in the practice of dentistry. The use of antibiotics is determined by the prescription based on clinical evidence, while an inadequate prescription increases the bacterial resistance every day. The purpose of this work was to review the prescription of the most widely used antibiotics in the UDLA Dentistry Clinics and to collaborate with bibliographic scientific elements that encourage the correct use of them, to implement useful recommendations to professionals and students so that they do not prescribe repetitively the drugs. This research showed 58% of the prescription of amoxicillin, being the most used medicine in all specialties of dentistry, the sample was 252 Clinical Histories which shows the prevalence of this antibiotic, without first considering an antibiotic prophylaxis that would be useful to decrease the load and bacterial resistance.
Las infecciones bucales establecen uno de los problemas más comunes que se forma en la práctica de la odontología. El uso de los antibióticos es determinado por la prescripción fundamentada en evidencias clínicas mientras que una prescripción no adecuada hace que cada día aumente la resistencia bacteriana. La finalidad de este trabajo fue revisar la prescripción de los antibióticos más utilizados en las Clínicas de Odontología de la UDLA y colaborar con elementos científicos bibliográficos que incentiven la correcta utilización de los mismos, para implantar recomendaciones útiles a profesionales y estudiantes para que no prescriban repetitivamente los fármacos. Esta investigación mostro el 58% de la prescripción de amoxicilina, siendo el medicamento más utilizado en todas las especialidades de la odontología, la muestra fue de 252 Historias Clínicas lo cual demuestra la prevalencia de este antibiótico, sin antes considerar una profilaxis antibiótica que sería útil para disminuir la carga y resistencia bacteriana.
