The following document contains an analysis about the Ecuadorian foreign policy during the presidency R.Correa. Considering the proximity with other governments that outstand as progressist or socialist of XXI century, influenced by the rhetoric and actions of known leader as the deceased Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez. The main objective is to identify the foreign policy displaced by this government from the year 2006 to the year 2017. And to observe if during this period the government developed a small state foreign policy. Noticing specially in the precepts of small state theory whether if it displaced a policy to achieve economic growth and a developing of the society without uncertainty. One supposes as first hand that this did not occur and that this government displaced a foreign policy based on the search for regional prominence causing an imbalance in the national interest.
Este documento contiene un análisis sobre la política exterior ecuatoriana durante el pasado gobierno del Econ. Rafael Correa Delgado, tomando en cuenta su proximidad con otros gobiernos denominados progresistas de la región, influidos por la retórica y las acciones de los fallecidos líderes Fidel Castro Ruz, de Cuba, y Hugo Chávez Frías, de Venezuela. El interés central está en determinar si durante el periodo 2006-2017, el gobierno ecuatoriano desarrolló una política exterior de los estados pequeños, según la cual se debe buscar apoyo en grandes potencias ante posibles amenazas externas, pero de forma tal que su economía crezca y su sociedad se desenvuelva sin incertidumbre. Se parte del supuesto que no fue así, y que las diferentes acciones del gobierno se caracterizaron por pretender ganar un protagonismo regional, lo cual se dio en algún momento. Sin embargo, se crearon resultados contraproducentes para la integridad de los intereses del Ecuador.
