Worldwide, diabetes has become a dangerous disease that society has had to face today. Their figures arouse the interest of international organizations that generate methodologies to combat the disease. In Ecuador, the reality is similar to that experienced in other countries of the world, since diabetes has become the second cause of death according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC). The most important elements that stand out in the research are related to the different sectors in which patients can be treated. The study was developed with reference to the public sector and the private sector, to which were added the different associations that exist in the country. In these 3 sectors the national population finds the possibility of facing the disease and finding information about the treatments, causes and consequences. Similarly, information about the legal framework that has been developing the disease to date at the national and international level is highlighted. The research was carried out based on a methodological design, which had a qualitative approach that allowed a comparison between medical attention in the public and private sectors. The pillars of the comparison are the costs and the dynamics with which the spaces where patients can be treated are currently handled. The journalistic tool that was used was the interview, since through it the information could be contrasted, and in this way to be able to conclude with information about the disease within the country.
A nivel mundial la diabetes se ha convertido en una enfermedad peligrosa que ha tenido que enfrentar la sociedad actual. Sus cifras despiertan el interés de organismos internacionales que generan metodologías para poder combatir la enfermedad. En Ecuador la realidad es similar a la que se vive en otros países del mundo, ya que la diabetes se ha convertido en la segunda causa de muerte según datos del Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Censo (INEC). Los elementos más importantes que se destacan dentro de la investigación se relacionan con los diferentes sectores en los que pueden ser atendidos los pacientes. El estudio se desarrolló teniendo como referencia al sector público y al sector privado, a lo que se le añadió las diferentes asociaciones que existen en el país. De igual forma se destaca información acerca del marco legal que ha venido desarrollando la enfermedad hasta la actualidad a nivel nacional e internacional. La investigación fue realizada en base a un diseño metodológico, el cual tuvo un enfoque cualitativo que permitió hacer una comparación entre la atención médica en el sector público y privado. Siendo los pilares de la comparación los costos y las dinámicas con las que se manejan actualmente los espacios en donde pueden ser tratados los pacientes. La herramienta periodística que se utilizó fe la entrevista, ya que mediante ella se pudo contrastar la información, y de esa manera poder concluir con información de la enfermedad dentro del país.
