En la actualidad, la minería de datos está percibiendo relevancia en las organizaciones para la resolución de problemas concernientes al negocio; la administración de información se vuelve compleja debido a que las organizaciones al interno obtienen información particionada de varios sistemas con el ideal de obtener un modelo predictivo adecuado. La necesidad a través del tiempo de administrar la información de manera adecuada exige orden, esto de la mano con la generación masiva de datos ha generado se desarrolle almacenes de datos, y para su análisis se han creado modelos, técnica y métodos estadísticos y de inteligencia artificial en el entorno de minería de datos que permitan obtener más información de la que se evidencia en un primer plano. Las organizaciones dentro de la Industria de Servicios demandan contar con capacidades tales que permitan evidenciar patrones de comportamiento útiles en fidelización de clientes, sin embargo es necesario un lineamiento oportuno en cuanto a metodologías, modelos y herramientas aplicables.
