We presente the upgrading and change of use of the colonial house “Las Tres Manuelas”, located in the historic center of Quito, turning it into a contemporary art gallery and art workshop for street children of 7-12 years old. This building, being a colonial house, is suitable for the implementation of the art gallery , the central courtyard favors a circular route connecting several rooms radially and providing ample space for dynamic presentations. The house also has two outbuildings where were implemented the art studio and the administrative area. This exhibitions aims to encourage sensory exploration, based on stimulating senses trough design elements such as shapes, colors, textures and lightning, and appliances that are built by the interior architecture as flavorings, microclimates and sounds, to accompany the exhibition of the works art. Such a design is inseparable from the history, morphology and typology of the house. The elements used in building materials, finishes and shapes visually integrate the original space and not transgress its architecture. As for the art workshop, we have chosen a large space to handle uneven height interconnected by ramps and stairs making a play space where children feel free to get involved in artistic creation. In the gallery have considered aspects of dynamic lightning, furniture versatile for every work of art, visual and aural elements, very used in contemporary art and thought in zoning gradual stimulation of the senses. The workshop will consider the safety of children, the versatility of adjustable furniture at different heights and stimulate their creativity through a bright color and organic shapes. All adhered to the concept of ‘Neuron’, cell responsible for transmitting the human brain sensory stimulus for the perception of the world around us.
Se presenta la readecuación y el cambio de uso de la casa colonial “Las Tres Manuelas”, ubicada en el Centro histórico de Quito, convirtiéndola en una Galería de Arte Contemporáneo y Taller de Arte para niños de la calle de 7 a 12 años. Dicha edificación, al ser una casa colonial, es apta para la implementación de una galería de arte, el patio central propicia un recorrido circular conectando varias salas radialmente y brindando amplio espacio para mayor dinamismo de las exposiciones. La casa consta además de dos edificaciones anexas donde se implementaron el taller de arte y el área administrativa. Esta galería pretende fomentar la exploración sensorial, basándose en el estímulo de los sentidos mediante elementos de diseño como formas, texturas, colores e iluminación; y mediante artefactos incorporados a la arquitectura interior como aromatizadores, microclimas y sonidos; que acompañen la exposición de las obras de arte. Los elementos utilizados, tanto en materiales de construcción como en acabados y formas se integran visualmente al espacio original y no transgreden su arquitectura. Así mismo, se mantienen y restauran los componentes emblemáticos de la casa como celosías de madera, moriscos, frescos pintados en las paredes. En cuanto al taller de arte, se ha escogido un amplio espacio con suficiente altura para manejar desniveles unidos entre sí mediante rampas y escaleras, logrando un espacio lúdico donde los niños se sientan libres de involucrase en la creación artística. En la Galería de arte se han considerado aspectos de iluminación dinámica; mobiliario versátil para cada obra de arte; elementos visuales y auditivos, muy utilizados en el arte contemporáneo y una zonificación pensada en el estímulo paulatino de los sentidos. En el taller se considera la seguridad de los niños, la versatilidad del mobiliario ajustable a diferentes alturas, estimular su creatividad mediante una cromática brillante y formas orgánicas. Todo ceñido al concepto de ´Neurona´, célula encargada de transmitir el estímulo sensorial al cerebro humano para la percepción del mundo que nos rodea.
