Updating the relevance of a career with respect to the needs of the occupational field is an activity that every institute of higher education must carry out in order to ensure that its students have the highest standards of academic training according to the requirements of the labor market. In this sense, this research aims to determine the requirements of the local, regional and national occupational field in relation to the training offer of the nursing career of the State University of Bolivar. For this purpose, to carry out this objective, an investigation was carried out with a quantitative and descriptive approach that allowed us to know from the perspective of the employers of the different areas of the country and of the nursing professionals of the UEB of the main periods 2018-2019 aspects related to the needs of the occupational field today. This information gathering allowed to determine that there is indeed an articulation between the needs of society and the profile of nursing graduates of the State University of Bolivar, however, there are areas to improve in training such as care for older adults, gynecoobstetrics and family nursing. This research also allowed us to know that despite the quality of career graduates there is a greater demand for nursing professionals than the current supply in the labor market, which leads to a high rate of unemployed. As a final result, a proposal for updating relevance was structured based on the documentary and field information, which showed the current articulation of the 2018 and 2019 graduates with the occupational field. La actualización de la pertinencia de una carrera con respecto a las necesidades del campo ocupacional es una actividad que toda institución de educación superior debe efectuar con el fin de garantizar que sus estudiantes cuenten con los más altos estándares de formación académica según los requerimientos del mercado laboral. En tal sentido, la presente investigación tiene como objetivo determinar los requerimientos del campo ocupacional local, regional y nacional en relación a la oferta formativa de la carrera de enfermería de la Universidad Estatal de Bolívar. Es para ello que se procedió a ejecutar una investigación con enfoque cuantitativo y descriptivo que permitió conocer desde la perspectiva de los empleadores de las distintas zonas del país y de los profesionales de enfermería de la UEB de los periodos 2018-2019 los principales aspectos relativos a las necesidades del campo ocupacional en la actualidad. Este levantamiento de información permitió determinar que efectivamente existe una articulación entre las necesidades de la sociedad y el perfil de los graduados de enfermería de la Universidad Estatal de Bolívar, sin embargo, existen áreas a mejorar en la formación tales como los cuidados a adultos mayores, ginecoobstetricia y enfermería familiar. Esta investigación también permitió conocer que existe una mayor demanda de profesionales de enfermería que la oferta actual en el mercado laboral lo que acarrea un alto índice de desempleados. Como resultado final se estructuró una propuesta de actualización de pertinencia en base a la información documental y de campo levantada, la cual arrojó la articulación actual de los graduados del 2018 y 2019 con el campo ocupacional.
