Objective: Establish the perception that nursing mothers have university students on child care, at the Bolivar State University. Methodology: Quantitative study, field and bibliographic; with descriptive approach carried out through the technique of content analysis, semi-structured surveys; to 445 mothers who are pregnant or breastfeeding, who are studying at the State University of Bolivar Guaranda. Results: identification of the female population in Bolivar State University within general categories fertile age and lactation; as specific categories were identified to the population: pregnant, nursing mothers, pregnant for the first time and pregnant recidivists; as defined, how they perceive child care; during and after pregnancy; demonstrating what is the reality, about the knowledge of mothers in child care; it was possible to determine the child care in which the university can be involved and contribute to the development of the infants. Conclusions: The mother perceives that child care contributes to the development of pregnancy, this is argued based on the experiences of families or neighbors, given that thanks to support measures have been able to successfully carry the pregnancy process and subsequent to it; thus, taking care of the health of mothers and their children. Objetivo: Establecer la percepción que tienen las madres lactantes estudiantes universitarias sobre el cuidado infantil, en la Universidad Estatal de Bolívar. Metodología: Estudio cuantitativo, de campo y bibliográfico; con enfoque descriptivo llevado a cabo por medio de la técnica de análisis de contenidos, de las encuestas semiestructuradas; a 445 madres embarazadas o en proceso de lactancia, que se encuentran estudiando en la Universidad Estatal de Bolívar Guaranda. Resultados: Identificación de la población femenina en Universidad Estatal de Bolívar dentro de categorías generales edad fértil y lactancia; como categorías especificas se identificó a la población: embarazada, madres lactantes, embarazadas por primera vez y embarazadas reincidentes; al igual que se definió, de qué manera perciben los cuidados infantiles; durante el embarazo y después del mismo; demostrando cual es la realidad, sobre el conocimiento de las madres en cuidados infantiles; se pudo determinar el cuidado infantil en el cual la universidad puede ser participe y contribuir al desarrollo de los infantes. Conclusiones: La madre percibe que los cuidados infantiles aportan al desarrollo del embarazo esto lo argumentan fundamentándose en las experiencias de familias o vecinos, dado que gracias a las medidas de apoyo han podido llevar el proceso de embarazo y posterior al mismo exitosamente; cuidando así la salud de las madres y sus hijos.
