Escatologia molecular en lagothrix lagotricha (Primates: Platyrrhini): un método no invasivo de amplificación de ADN

Description: Lagothrix lagotricha is a primate species known as “woolly monkey” or “chorongo”. This species is distributed in Amazonian Ecuador. Due to various problems in their habitat, such as deforestation, fragmentation, and being victims of constant poaching because of their great size and protein value, the woolly monkey can be a species vulnerable to extinction. Thus, conservation studies are important and contribute to preserving the species. The objective of this study was to employ a non-invasive sample, through a collection of faeces, in order to extract DNA from these primates, amplify it through PCR and obtain molecular information.
Lagothrix lagotricha es una especie de primate que se conoce como “mono lanudo” o “chorongo”. Esta especie se encuentra distribuida en la Amazonía ecuatoriana. Debido a varios problemas en su hábitat como la deforestación, la fragmentación y ser víctimas de la constante caza por su gran tamaño y valor proteico, los chorongos pueden ser una especie vulnerable a extinguirse. Por lo tanto, estudios de conservación son importantes y contribuirían al mantenimiento de la especie.
