Biblioteca Comunitaria de Guápulo

Description: Guápulo neighborhood is located in the east of the city of Quito, it is known for its great tourist, cultural and historical value, it is also known for its landscape potential because it acts as a balcony to the valleys. This neighborhood is mostly residential and there are heritage buildings such as the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Guápulo, and the monastery where currently the SEK International University is. These buildings make a very interesting set but at the moment it looks incomplete, this is the reason why the project proposes to unify the existing buildings with the proposed library so the set is consolidated and also maximize all the characteristics that this place has and have not been explored yet.
El barrio de Guápulo, ubicado al oriente de la ciudad de Quito, es conocido por su gran valor turístico, cultural e histórico, además es reconocido por su potencial paisajístico ya que actúa como balcón hacia los valles. Este barrio es residencial en su mayoría y existen construcciones patrimoniales como el Santuario de la Virgen de Guápulo, y el monasterio donde actualmente está la Universidad Internacional Sek. Estos edificios conforman un conjunto muy interesante pero que al momento se lo ve incompleto, es por esta razón que el proyecto propone unificar la biblioteca con los edificios existentes logrando un conjunto consolidado, y también potenciar todas las características que tiene el lugar y no han sido exploradas aún.
