After one year of investigation, analysis of Ecuadorian movies I present here this work. Starting with national film history and various climax moments, going through rough times with no production, this work looks to bring the national cinema memory to the public conscience. The academic paper looks to understand, why there are some images that make us think of home. In the last 15 years there have been two Ecuadorian representations that were huge box office hits. Qué tan lejos in 2006 and A tus Espaldas in 2011. Using a focus group, comparisons with experts in the field, we try to understand why we, as Ecuadorians, put certain things in the screen. The first media I present here is completely linked with my academic paper. Using both productions as the basis of an analysis of the performers, and how the audience reacts to them. The second media is used to generate context. A web page in which I tried to put some of the most important events in Ecuadorian film history. With interviews, archive, photographs to learn about our cinema roots.
El trabajo presentado a continuación es el resumen de un año de investigación y análisis de productos cinematográficos ecuatorianos. Empezando por su historia y sus varios momentos de reconocimiento, pasando por momentos de gran silencio, este trabajo busca sacar a la luz cierta memoria nacional que permanece oculta. El trabajo académico busca entender el por qué existen ciertas imágenes que nos traen una añoranza a nuestra tierra. En los últimos 15 años han existido dos representaciones ecuatorianas de ficción que rompieron taquilla. Qué tan lejos en 2006 y A tus Espaldas en 2011. Se analiza a través de un grupo focal y comparaciones con teóricos del cine el por qué los ecuatorianos ponemos ciertas cosas en la pantalla y si nos gusta o no. El primer formato periodístico de entrega viene directamente relacionado al académico. Tomando como base ambas producciones antes mencionadas busqué entender, mediante entrevista con sus creadores e interpretes, del por qué existió una conexión entre el público y las películas. El segundo formato sirve más para generar un contexto histórico. Una página web en la que se representan ciertos hitos históricos de gran importancia para la industria cinematográfica ecuatoriana. En entrevistas, fragmentos históricos, tráileres, datos y una línea de tiempo se podrá conocer la historia del cine nacional.
