Kawasaki disease was described by Tomisaku Kawasaki in 1967 in Japan. It represents one of the systemic vasculitis with the highest prevalence in the pediatric population after the Schönlein-Henoch purpura. It usually occurs in children under 5 years old, the vast majority of whom are boys. Its origin continues to be unknown. This disease of heterogeneous presentation is determined by the vascular affection of small and medium caliber arteries caused by a vascular inflammatory process that leads to the alteration of the luminal dimension of the coronary arteries which leads to the development of aneurysms and their consequent complications...
La enfermedad de Kawasaki fue descrita por Tomisaku Kawasaki en 1967 en Japón. Representa una de las vasculitis sistémicas con mayor prevalencia en la población pediátrica luego de la Púrpura de Schönlein-Henoch.
