The disposal of used lubricating oils can be an activity environmentally harmful, be-cause it contaminates the water. Fortunately, since the 90´s, many countries and or-ganizations around the world have encouraged the investigation to recover and reuse these oils, showing that used lubricating oil can be an important source of clean lubri-cating oil and liquid fuel. The purpose of this study is to expose the used lubricating oil as a source of liquid fuel. Hasta hace poco tiempo el aceite lubricante usado constituía un desecho contaminante que no tenía ningún tipo de tratamiento y es por esto que se convirtió en un importante agente contaminante del agua. Desde los años 90, países y organizaciones alrededor del mundo han incentivado la investigación de métodos de reciclaje de aceites lubri-cantes usados para demostrar que el aceite usado es una importante materia prima para producir aceite lubricante limpio y combustibles líquidos.
