In Ecuador, there have been severe cases of animal abuse due to the lack of culture, education and information in our society. Loba Act is being debated, seeking to promote the rights of animals and their wellbeing; however, there has not been any decisions yet about it. For this reason and the existing negative situation in this area, we have created the social community campaign N.A.M.A y Ama, (No Al Maltrato Animal/ No to Animal Abuse) which seeks to educate people about animal welfare and the five freedoms, educating society about the situation of the overpopulation of urban wildlife in the city of Quito; as this has become a social problem and how we can stop it (explaining the benefits of sterilization). Finally, the campaign seeks to promote responsible decisions, as this is a way to eradicate abandonment, which is considered a form of animal abuse.
En nuestro país actualmente, se han dado casos severos de maltrato animal, esto se debe a la falta de cultura, educación e información que tiene nuestra sociedad. Además se encuentra en debate la Ley Loba, la cual busca impulsar los derechos de los animales. Por este motivo y la coyuntura existente en este tema, hemos creado la campaña social NA.M.A. y Ama, que busca educar a la gente sobre el bienestar animal y sus cinco libertades, informar a la sociedad sobre la situación de sobrepoblación de fauna urbana que tiene la ciudad de Quito, como esto se ha convertido en un problema social y cómo podemos detenerlo (explicar los beneficios de la esterilización). Y por último la campaña busca fomentar la adopción responsable, ya que esta es una manera de erradicar el abandono, el cual es considerado un tipo de maltrato animal.
