In today's globalized world, English has crossed borders and has become an essential element in the development and progress of nations. Most curricula in Ecuadorian educational institutions teach English based on grammatical structures, which has promoted theoretical learning in students. This theoretical knowledge of grammar has not translated into practical learning, meaning that students are prevented from functioning in English without problems and form working in various fields worldwide. On a different but related front, the use of the arts of the arts as teaching methodology has increased over the last decade, given the importance of their positive relationship to significant learning. This thesis includes the design, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum program for an English high school class in Quito, based on the arts. The results of this research suggest that the arts help people in their creativity, motivation and intellectual development and offer substantial improvement of English language skills.
En el mundo globalizado actual, el idioma inglés ha cruzado las fronteras y se ha convertido en elemento esencial en el desarrollo y progreso de las naciones. La mayoría de los planes curriculares, en las instituciones educativas del Ecuador, para la enseñanza del inglés están basados en estructuras gramaticales. Esta metodología ha impulsado un aprendizaje teórico en los estudiantes y no se ha logrado que consigan alcanzar un aprendizaje práctico, con el fin de que puedan desenvolverse en la lengua inglesa sin ningún problema en diferentes campos a nivel mundial. Además, el uso de las artes como metodología de enseñanza se ha incrementado en la última década, dada la importancia de ellas en el aprendizaje significativo. A través de esta tesis se diseñará, implantará y evaluará un plan curricular para la asignatura de Inglés en el séptimo nivel de bachillerato de un Colegio de Quito, basado en las artes. Los resultados de esta investigación han sugerido que las artes ayudan al ser humano en su creatividad, motivación y desarrollo intelectual y sustancialmente el mejoramiento de las destrezas lingüísticas del idioma inglés.
