Parque Urbano Cultural - Deportivo regeneración de barrio Chimbacalle por intervención en vacíos urbanos

Quito is a city that, given its geographical location and problems with the growth of urban areas, has left residual spaces in its territory; thus, generating a distinctive separation in the inner cities, such as the South, Centre and North. These manifestations of segregation through empty spaces affect the use and occupation of space, provision of infrastructure services and facilities, as well as, influence directly on the rationing of space according to class interests and on the formation and identity of these inner cities. Moreover, it is the intent, with a study, to improve the empty space formed by the Machangara Ravine, the Panecillo and the Itchimbía by converting this natural barrier into a connector between the South and the rest of the city. For this reason, an Urban Cultural - Sports Park, ending at the Ravine, is recommended in order to improve the empty space; hence, creating natural landscapes and promoting urban facilities that will enable to interweave the urban fabric and, at the same time, turn it into a common benefit for the community of the Chimbacalle area and for the city in general.
Quito es una ciudad que por su ubicación geográfica y por la problemática en el crecimiento de la mancha urbana, ha dejado espacios residuales en su territorio. Lo que ha generado una distintiva separación en ciudades interiores; como son el Sur, el Centro y el Norte. Estas manifestaciones de segregación por medio de los vacíos urbanos repercuten en el uso y ocupación en el espacio, en la dotación de servicios de infraestructura y equipamientos urbanos e influyen directamente en la racionalización del espacio de acuerdo a sus intereses de clase y a la conformación e identidad de estas ciudades interiores. Asimismo, por medio de un análisis se determina potencializar el vacío conformado por la quebrada Machangara, el Panecillo y el Itchimbía transformando esta barrera natural en un vínculo del Sur con el resto de la ciudad. Por esta razón, se propone un Parque Urbano Cultural – Deportivo que remata en la Quebrada, para potenciar el vacío regenerando paisajes naturales, con el fin de promover equipamiento urbano que permita entretejer la trama urbana y que al mismo tiempo sea un beneficio común para la comunidad del barrio Chimbacalle y para la ciudad en general.
