Description: The objective of this thesis is to analyze multiple counterproductive effects that disregard for the practice of indigenous justice has generated in Ecuador. To this end, the experience of indigenous justice in the community of San Pedro, the intercultural norms under which this practice has been governed, the unlawful imprisonment of indigenous leaders, and the difficulty of access to legal representation, are analyzed. Across interviews, ethnographic study, and community coexistence, the confusion about the role and current status of indigenous justice is studied. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar los múltiples efectos contra productivos que ha generado el desprecio hacia la práctica de la justicia indígena en el Ecuador. Para este fin, se analiza la experiencia de la justicia indígena en la comunidad de San Pedro, las normas interculturales bajo las que rige esta práctica, la encarcelación ilegal de dirigentes indígenas, y la dificultad del acceso a representación jurídica.
