Discourse is an effective display of power. Through this tool, soft-power convince and mobilize the people in favor or against an ideal. Terrorism and its violent fight have achieved get into their lines thousands of people, making them to see their ideals as legitimate, as their actions and means. Al Qaeda is one of the most relevant terrorist groups into the political and social sphere. They have known how to grown in its scope and have used the different tools to proclaim its discourse worldwide in order to grown as an organization. Without denying that they are an organization with an advanced level of development, they have built a terror regime; they are the responsible of some of the most impressive terrorist attacks, also the responsible of most lives lost. With and exercise of smart-power, AL Qaeda make their objectives and actions to become legitimate throughout rhetoric which rest in the strong muslin religion and culture. If do not, let’s think about how despite the objective of terrorist attacks is to kill thousands of innocent people and also will destroy the heritage of a place, militants and new recruits commit them. They even give their life for these ideals which clinch inside of them until it become their absolute truth. So, it legitimate the violence? Besides de leadership of bin Laden, we will see that the legitimacy rests on the Al Qaeda´s discourse instead of the figure of the leader.
El discurso es una manifestación del poder muy efectiva. Por medio de esta herramienta el soft-power convence y moviliza a las masas en favor o en contra de un ideal. El terrorismo y su lucha política violenta han logrado comprometer en sus filas a miles de personas, haciendo que estas vean a sus ideales como legítimos, de igual manera a sus acciones y medios. Al Qaeda, uno de los grupos terroristas más relevantes de la escena política y social, ha sabido crecer en su ámbito y ha hecho uso de las distintas herramientas actuales para proclamar su discurso a nivel global con el fin de crecer como organización. Sin negar que son una organización con un nivel de organización desarrollado, han generado un régimen del terror; son causantes de algunos de los ataques terroristas con más impacto y más vidas perdidas. Con un ejercicio de smart-power, Al Qaeda legitima sus objetivos y sus acciones mediante la retórica que se apoya en su enraizada religión y cultura musulmana. Si no, pensemos cómo es que a pesar de saber que el objetivo de los atentados terroristas es matar a miles de personas inocentes y destruir el patrimonio de un lugar determinado, miles de jóvenes lo hacen, incluso dan su vida por este ideal que se afianza tan dentro de ellos que se vuelve su verdad absoluta. Se legitima la violencia entonces? El impacto que Al Qaeda ha tenido más que por parte de sus atentados ha sido por la importancia, expansión y alcance de su ideología. A pesar del liderazgo de bin Laden, vamos a ver que la legitimidad reside en la encarnación del discurso de Al Qaeda y no en la figura de este como líder.
