The metaphor in architecture, seen as spaces configurator tool, will be the element that allows the development of the project, in this case, the Andean funerary rituals practiced in the communities surrounding the Otavalo canton and specifically in TioIluman culture, will under study as a starting point for the metaphor to be treated. Through metaphorical interpretation can be conceptualized and get different views that generate a holistic and determine its performance through examples and types of metaphors that can be found during the development of the subject. The purpose of combining the metaphor and culture IlumanKichwaOtavalo-Tio, aims to interpret the meanings of death, as conceived and that treats each ritual. The funeral rituals practiced in this culture are two; ¨ ¨ Chunkana and Wawa Wañuy ¨. Funerary rituals does the context of the four dimensions of the Andean world, basically corresponding to the four worlds established in culture as: HawaPacha (upper world), Kai Pacha (this world), UkuPacha (world below), and the Chaishukpacha (the other world). The study site for the implementation of the cemetery complies with the conditions and needs that people have. On one hand, the study site has all the features that represent each element of the four dimensions of the Andean world, and on the other hand, the social context in which it will be implemented will be determining factor for the development of the program. Facilities at the graveyard, will be directly linked to adequate space for performing funeral rites as ritual bathing, vigils room, spaces for performing chunkana games ¨ ¨ traditional dancing fandango ¨, spaces where make offerings and prayers, among others.
La metáfora en la arquitectura, vista como herramienta configuradora de espacios, será el elemento que permita el desarrollo del proyecto, en este caso, los rituales funerarios andinos que se practican en las comunidades aledañas al cantón Otavalo y específicamente en la cultura IlumanTio, serán motivo de estudio como punto de partida de la metáfora a tratar. A través de la interpretación metafórica se puede conceptualizar y obtener diferentes puntos de vista que generan una visión holística y determinan su funcionamiento mediante ejemplos y tipos de metáforas que se puede hallar durante el desarrollo del tema. El propósito de conjugar la metáfora y la cultura kichwaOtavalo-IlumanTio, tiene como finalidad interpretar los significados de la muerte, como la concibe y de que trata cada ritual. Los rituales funerarios practicados en esta cultura son dos; ¨Chunkana y el ¨ WawaWañuy¨. Los rituales funerarios se lo hace un contexto de las cuatro dimensiones de la cosmovisión andina; básicamente corresponden a los cuatro mundos que se establece en la cultura como: Hawa Pacha (mundo de arriba), Kai Pacha (este mundo), Uku Pacha (mundo de abajo), y el Chaishuk pacha (el otro mundo). El sitio de estudio para la implantación del cementerio cumple con las condiciones y necesidades que los habitantes presentan. Por un lado, el sitio de estudio reúne todas las características que representan cada elemento de las cuatro dimensiones de la cosmovisión andina, y por el otro lado, el contexto social donde será implantado será factor condicionante para la elaboración del programa. Las instalaciones del cementerio, estarán directamente ligados a espacios adecuados para la realización de los rituales funerarios como: el baño ritual, sala de velaciones, espacios para la realización de los juegos del ¨chunkana¨, el baile tradicional ¨fandango¨, espacios donde se realizan ofrendas y plegarias, entro otros.
