Percepciones de los Estudiantes sobre las Pr?cticas como Parte del Programa de Estudios de Hospitalidad: Un Estudio Cualitativo

This article reports on a study done among hospitality students in a leading university in Ecuador regarding their perceptions of the internship as a mandatory component of their curriculum. By means of several group interviews the study investigated student opinions about their experiences before, during and after their internships. As identified in the literature on the topic, students recognized the importance of the internship in rounding out their educational experiences and in helping them make career choices. Yet, they also identified several shortcomings about their internship programs and about the way they were structured and organized. As this is a first foray into the topic from a South American perspective, the researchers hope for it to generate considerable future research.
Este art?culo presenta un estudio realizado entre estudiantes de las carreras de Hospitalidad en una destacada universidad en el Ecuador, sobre sus percepciones de las pr?cticas como un componente obligatorio de su programa de estudios. A trav?s de varias entrevistas grupales, el estudio investig? las opiniones de estudiantes sobre sus experiencias: antes, durante y despu?s de sus programas de pasant?as. Como se identifica en el material bibliogr?fico sobre el tema, los estudiantes reconocieron la importancia de las pr?cticas para complementar sus experiencias educacionales y para ayudarles a determinar su elecci?n de carrera. Adem?s, ellos tambi?n identificaron varios resultados sobre sus programas de pr?cticas, su estructura y c?mo estaban organizadas, ya que ?sta es la primera incursi?n en el tema desde una perspectiva sudamericana, los investigadores esperan generar un punto de partida para futuras investigaciones.
