Description

This document encompasses the development of a software tool that facilitates visual data analysis when working with a relational database. Moreover, the tool enables to create SQL queries involving time series structures of a given Oracle database. The main feature of the tool is that it reveals top deviations that are found when contrasting the values of a given SQL query against the overall dataset values over the same time span. The tool is also in charge of generating automatic visualizations of those top deviations; thus, providing an alternative and efficient way to assist users when analysing time series data. All visualizations are driven by time series similarity measures, namely Euclidean Distance and Dynamic Time Warping both metrics were selected as a result of a literature revision over the state of the art similarity metrics in the field of Data mining time series.
