El proyecto de investigación tiene como propósito analizar los diferentes factores que permitieron superar las diferentes crisis del sector camaronero en el periodo de los últimos 20 años. Las reacciones del sector para superar las adversidades que lo afectaron durante periodo determinado, desde el White Spot hasta la más reciente el Covid-19 como crisis que fue más de carácter sanitario global, pertinente trazar un esquema útil para otros sectores. Como resultado de la investigación se demostró mediante varios factores que la crisis que más golpeó el sector fue le White Spot, la cual tomó varios años en recuperarse; por otro lado, el Covid-19 frenó el crecimiento proyectado para el 2020. Ambas crisis sirvieron para que la industria camaronera pueda innovarse tanto en metodología de la producción como en la tecnificación de los campos, reflejándose el cambio en ingresos y exportaciones en el PIB nacional, siendo en la actualidad el primer producto no petrolero de mayor exportación nacional. Ello permitiendo al Ecuador llegar a ser a lo largo de los años cada vez más prominente en el mercado internacional y en la actualidad, el mayor productor de camarón en todo el, mundo por encima de China y Tailandia, proyectando en 5 años a la industria camaronera ecuatoriana con la capacidad de producción lista para cubrir la demanda global total de camarón.
The goal of the research project is to analyze the varied factors that allowed overcoming the different crises in the shrimp sector during the last 20 years. Among the crises that affected the shrimp industry in the determined period were the White Spot, which was a direct crisis of the sector; and the most recent, Covid-19, a crisis that was more of a global sanitary nature. As a result of the investigation, it was proved through factors that the crisis that hit the sector the hardest was the White Spot, which took years to recover; on the other hand, the Covid-19 slowed down the projected growth for 2020. Both crises helped the shrimp industry to innovate both in production method and in the technification of the fields, reflecting this both in income and exports in the national GDP, being currently the first non-oil product of major national export. This has allowed Ecuador to become increasingly prominent in the international market over the years and is currently the largest producer of shrimp in the world, ahead of China and Thailand, projecting that in 5 years the Ecuadorian shrimp industry will have the production capacity to meet the total global demand for shrimp.
