Efecto del cepillado sobre la superficie dental por la acción de diferentes cepillos dentales en combinación con dentífricos blanqueadores

60 segments of enamel, plus their respective control samples were subjected to an initial weighing and then to a process of abrasivity with brushes Colgate 360° soft and medium bristled, in combination with toothpastes: Colgate Max White, Colgate Ultra White and Colgate Total Professional Whitening. This process consisted on a mechanical brushing of 6 hours, after which a final weight was determined. The vestibular surfaces of 64 cut segments of enamel were analyzed in a perfilometer and the obtained information, so much of variation in weight as of ruggedness, were compared and analyzed statistically. In was concluded that all the samples lost weight; nevertheless, the most significant samples were those brushed with medium-bristles toothbrushes in combination with Colgate Max White toothpaste. The smallest variation of weight was obtained with the use of the soft-bristled toothbrushes plus Colgate Total Professional Whitening toothpaste. As for the ruggedness compared to the sample control (intact sample, considered intact because it did not undergo by any treatment), samples with the greater roughness were brushed with the medium-bristles toothbrushes plus Colgate Max White toothpaste.
60 segmentos cortados de esmalte, más sus respectivas muestras control fueron sometidos a un pesaje inicial y luego a un proceso de abrasividad, mediante cepillos Colgate 360° de cerdas suaves y medias en combinación con pastas dentales blanqueadoras: Colgate Max White, Colgate Ultra Blanco y Colgate Total Professional Whitening. Este proceso consistió en un cepillado mecánico de 6 horas de duración, luego de lo cual se determinó el peso final. Las superficies vestibulares de los 64 segmentos cortados de esmalte fueron analizados en un rugosímetro y los datos obtenidos, tanto de variación en peso como de rugosidad, fueron comparados y analizados estadísticamente. Se concluyó que todas las muestras perdieron peso; sin embargo, las muestras más significativas fueron aquellas cepilladas con cepillos de cerdas medias en combinación con el dentífrico Colgate Max White. La menor variación de peso se dio con los cepillos suaves en combinación con la pasta dental Colgate Total Professional Whitening. En cuanto a la rugosidad, comparada a la muestra control (diente intacto), las muestras más rugosas fueron las cepilladas con cepillos de cerdas medianas en combinación con la pasta dental Colgate Max White; con los cepillos de cerdas suaves los segmentos más rugosos fueron, nuevamente, los cepillados con el dentífrico Colgate Max White.
